The consortium handling liquid waste at the Savannah River Site has named a new project manager and president for Savannah River Remediation as the company's previous president departs to lead Washington River Protection Solutions at the Hanford site in Washington.

Ken Rueter will take over for Dave Olson at SRR. Both that company and WRPS are consortiums led by URS to manage cleanup projects at sites owned by the Department of Energy. SRR, which includes partners Bechtel National, CH2M Hill and Babcock & Wilcox, has held the contract at the South Carolina site for four years.

Rueter has worked in government nuclear facility operations for 25 years, according to a URS release. He was previously the chief operating officer at UCOR, the consortium holding the cleanup contract at the Oak Ridge, Tenn., DOE site. He was also the chief operating officer of WRPS and served as the project manager of the SRS Alternative Salt Program in 2011.
