On May 4, 2011 UniPure airlifted three oil water separators to the damaged Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

Each UniPure SPC-250 Slant Plate Coalescer processes up to 250 gallons per minute.  The units are being used to remove floating debris, suspended solids, oils and grease from the contaminated water.  This first treatment step will allow the downstream processes removing the radioactive particles to be more efficient.

UniPure was initially contacted about this project on April 14, 2011 and shipped three new units modified to accommodate Japanese piping standards on May 4, 2011.  “We are honored our small business was employed to assist with this crisis and proud we were able to deliver the urgently needed equipment ahead of schedule.” said Michael McPhee, President of UniPure.

UniPure, a Brea based company, has been designing and building industrial water treatment systems for clients worldwide since 1995.
