Two energy consulting firms with deep knowledge of the nuclear industry have merged. In a release Monday, Kennesaw, Ga.-based Enercon announced it acquired Washington, D.C.-based Talisman International.

"Talisman is an excellent fit for Enercon and will complement our existing engineering, licensing, environmental and new plant services divisions, as well as add senior level managers with extensive experience in nuclear regulatory policy and enforcement issues," Enercon President John Richardson said in the release. "Talisman has broad experience and expertise with the NRC licensing process and U.S. and international standards that apply to the regulation of nuclear facilities, the use of radioactive materials and the cleanup and decommissioning of nuclear facilities."

Enercon's 1,350 pre-merger employees offer engineering, environmental consulting and management services. Its new plant services division has assisted with permitting for reactors at the Grand Gulf, Bellefonte, William States Lee and Comanche Peak nuclear plants. The Atlanta Business Chronicle also reported that Southern Co. is among its clients.

With several former senior managers from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and nuclear utilities, Talisman offers litigation, technical consulting and information security consulting related to issues before the NRC and the Department of Energy.
