The CEO of Korea Electric Power Co. has said the company is in talks to potentially double the number of reactors it will build in the United Arab Emirates.

A KEPCO-led consortium of Korean Companies is already planning to start work this year on a $20.4 billion plant that will eventually be home to four APR-1400 reactors.  Kim Joong Kyum said this week the company is also in exclusive talks to build an additional four reactors for the Middle Eastern nation within the next decade.

The announcement comes amid a broader push by KEPCO to export Korean nuclear technology. KEPCO has also announced it will spend about $1 billion in foreign capital investment this year – a sharp increase from 2011.
