Entergy restarted unit 2 at its Indian Point nuclear plant Wednesday night, having replaced a seal in a reactor coolant pump.

Plant operators manually shut down the reactor on Jan. 10 when water leaking from the pump exceeded set limits. According to an NRC event report, the manual trip went smoothly, with an auxiliary feed water pump placed into service beforehand.

Unit 3, the second reactor at Indian Point, continued to operate. In a release, Entergy said unit 2 had operated for 230 continuous days before the shutdown and repairs.

Both units are roughly 1020 megawatt Westinghouse pressurized water reactors located north of New York City.
