Industry giants Exelon Generation and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy have signed a $300 million integrated outage service contract that covers the entire Exelon stable of boiling water nuclear energy facilities, the companies announced.

GEH will provide a “full portfolio of outage and inspection services,” for Exelon, covering 14 BWR power plants in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Northeast.

Along with the service contract, the companies extended a fuel services contact that covers six Exelon reactors, strengthening an already solid business relationship that recently included an Exelon gas turbine order valued at $500 million.

The service contract includes refuel floor activities and under-vessel inspection services.

The contract covers plants that produce electricity for approximately 14 million homes.
