Exelon has extended a maintenance contract with Chicago Bridge & Iron to include the five East Coast reactors the utility acquired in its 2012 merger with Constellation Energy.
The $800 million deal covers five years of maintenance, modification and construction services at the Calvert Cliffs, Nine Mile Point and Ginna plants. The companies' agreement also calls for CB&I to provide temporary staffing, painting and insulation services across Exelon's 22 reactor fleet, according to a CB&I release Monday.
The reactor technology used at the plants acquired from Constellation is diverse. In Maryland, Calvert Cliffs operates two Combustion Engineering pressurized water reactors. In New York, the Ginna plant uses a single Westinghouse PWR, while the Nine Mile Point plant uses two General Electric boiling water reactors.
