Fluor will continue to provide operations and maintenance services at the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant under a new contract extension.

The Irving, Texas-based company announced the deal Tuesday. It follows an initial contract awarded in mid-2010 and also covers modification and outage services at both reactors at the plant. The work includes mechanical, electrical and civil tasks. The company did not provide a dollar amount for the contract extension or its length, saying only that its value was accounted for in the first quarter of this year.

Pacific Gas and Electric operates the Diablo Canyon plant near San Luis Obispo, Calif. According to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, it uses two Westinghouse pressurized water reactors first licensed in the mid-1980s. Together they generate about 2,200 megawatts.
