China Power Investment Corp signed an agreement with Duke Energy on Friday for nuclear power development, China Power President Lu Qizhou said Saturday.

According to MarketWatch, specific details were not revealed, but Lu said China's cooperation with the United States in the clean energy sector is increasing.

On Thursday, Duke Energy also signed a memorandum of understanding with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group to cooperate in nuclear power investment, nuclear power plant operation management and other clean energy developments.

Duke Energy, a Charlotte, N.C. electric utility, has been partnering with Chinese power producers to commercialize clean-energy technologies. It also signed a three-year agreement with China Huaneng Group last month in order to expand research cooperation in advanced coal and carbon capture technologies.

China Power is one of the country's five largest state-owned power producers and one of three companies in the country that can design, develop and operate nuclear power plants.
