China Nuclear Power Engineering Corp. (CNPEC) has hired industrial construction giant Bechtel to help enhance its construction management.

Bechtel announced Wednesday that it will provide training and education to the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group subsidiary as part of efforts to keep projects on schedule and on budget. The contract, whose value was not reported by the companies, follows another recent consulting deal with a subsidiary of the China National Nuclear Corp. In the 1990s, Bechtel also worked with CGNPG on the Daya Bay nuclear plant.

CNPEC is managing or involved in several of the 25-plus nuclear construction projects currently underway in China, according to the World Nuclear Association.
