EDF is now online with its new site, edf.fr. This launch is part of a huge programme to overhaul the Group's websites. Initiated in June 2009, the project is designed to streamline the EDF web platform, moving from a system comprising more than 40 sites to one organised around a corporate portal with a site for each area: France, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Italy, USA, Asia.
After the launch of the edf.com portal in the first quarter of 2010, the unveiling of the edf.fr French site marks the culmination of a project involving almost 200 contributors from within the EDF Group Management and its subsidiaries. The objective: to enhance the dialogue with web visitors, by offering simpler site navigation, useful and innovative content and new personalised services.
Customers will be able to become active participants in their own energy consumption through simplified customer navigation focusing on their individual plans (for example: "I'm renovating", "I'm moving house") or practical topics ("Reading my meter", "My account"). EDF has also enhanced the news content concerning what's happening on our industrial sites in a new section entitled "Live from our power stations".
A "new look", easy-to-use web platform
This new platform reflects the Group's "Leading the energy change" approach and adopts EDF's new corporate identity. Videos and interactive animations make technical subjects more accessible and educational with the use of 3D (for example electric vehicles and the Nam Theun dam in Laos in the section "How does it work?") and via Web TV with 300 films already available.
Visitors can now personalise the site according to their areas of interest: customer area, job vacancies, share prices, sports news, life on the industrial sites, etc.
Functions allowing sharing and distribution on the social networks also contribute to creating a feeling of participation in changes affecting energy usage behaviour.
At key stages, the project was tested with users to validate its ease of use, its emphasis on the use of graphics, and site navigation.
The EDF web platform is designed to attract more than 2.8 million individual visits each month, including 2 million visits to the EDF Blue Sky site for residential consumers and 400,000 individual visits to the edf.com portal.
EDF was supported by Havas Energie in carrying out the overhaul of its sites. Two other agencies, Duke and Nurun, have been chosen to maintain and develop the new system alongside Havas Energie.
