Geospatial Holdings, Inc. has announced that the Company will be presenting a technical paper “Identifying and Managing Aging Buried Pipeline Assets in the Nuclear Industry” at the upcoming meeting of the Buried Pipe Integrity Group (“BPIG”) of the Electric Power Research Group (EPRI).

The Buried Pipeline Integrity Group was formed by EPRI in 2008 with the objective of supporting the needs of nuclear plant owners with respect to ensuring the structural integrity and operability of their buried piping. The objectives and services of BPIG include:

  • Provide a forum for utilities to exchange experiences regarding their buried piping.
  • Develop and support industry standard approaches to deal with buried piping.
  • Sponsor technical investigations into high-priority issues identified by the members.
  • Provide a forum for related technologies and services to be brought to the attention of plant owners.
  • Provide related training.

The week-long conference is a Closed Door Session for BPIG member utilities only; however one day is set aside for invited companies to present papers on related technologies and services to the member utility companies.

Geospatial will be presenting its technical paper on Monday, July 13th, 2009 at the Denver Marriot West located in Golden, Colorado.

Geospatial Holdings utilizes proprietary 3D sensing technologies to locate, map, perform condition assessment and detect leaks of underground pipelines.

Geospatial’s technologies include smart probes which can be deployed from within the pipeline. When coupled with commercially available condition assessment technologies or enhanced geo-referenced underground imaging technologies Geospatial is capable of creating 3-D geo-referenced maps showing the accurate position of both the pipeline and the anomalies within the pipeline.

All data derived from Geospatial’s sensing technologies is geo-referenced allowing the data to be managed and viewed in 3D within the Company’s robust web-based GeoUnderground GIS (geographic information system) Portal.
