Ventyx Promotes Steve Carpenter to President and Vince Burkett to Executive Chairman

 – By Stephen Heiser –

Ventyx, a global private software, data and advisory services provider to the nuclear energy industry, has announced that Chief Operating Officer Steve Carpenter has been promoted to President, and current President and Chief Executive Officer Vince Burkett has been promoted to Executive Chairman of the Board, effective immediately. Both Carpenter and Burkett will continue to serve in their current roles as COO and CEO, respectively.

“Both Vince and Steve have performed exceedingly well over the past two years, leading the company to meet its strategic and fiscal goals while successfully integrating multiple acquisitions. These promotions reflect both gentlemen’s outstanding service to the company,” said Robert F. Smith, Ventyx chairman of the Board and managing principal of Vista Equity Partners. “As Ventyx continues to execute its growth strategy in key industries, including a revitalized nuclear energy industry, we felt it was important that Vince take on more of a strategic leadership role and Steve focus on execution.”

Burkett has served as President and CEO since January 2008. He was promoted from COO, a position he assumed in January 2007 when MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. (MDSI) and Indus International Inc. combined to form Ventyx. Before the merger, he was the President and CEO of MDSI. Prior to joining MDSI, Burkett was founder and CEO of SourceNet Solutions Inc. and a managing director at Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting LLC.

Carpenter has been Ventyx Chief Operating Officer since January 2008 when he was promoted to that position from Chief Technology Officer of Ventyx, a role he has served in since joining the company in February 2007. An enterprise software industry veteran, Carpenter has 15 years of experience including executive roles at Infor, SSA Global and Baan (each merging through acquisition). With SSA Global, he was responsible for program management across all product lines including ERP, SCM, CRM, Financial & Human Capital Management and Business Intelligence. At Baan, Carpenter held several executive positions including president of the CRM business unit as well as leading the ERP product team in The Netherlands.

“Ventyx is a great company with a tremendous future and significant growth opportunities.  We have an unparalleled portfolio of solutions giving us the unique ability to optimize our energy and utility clients’ operations, including asset management, portfolio planning and optimization tools for regulated and merchant power generation organizations,” said Carpenter. “As Ventyx President, I look forward to utilizing my experience to guide the continued development and integration of our solutions into a comprehensive and cohesive offering for our customers worldwide.”

“I am grateful for my tenure serving as Ventyx President and proud of our company’s accomplishments,” said Burkett. “I look forward to serving as Executive Chairman and building on the existing momentum for our growth strategies, especially in areas such as nuclear generation. Ventyx solutions are installed at more than 90 percent of operating U.S. nuclear reactors. Our software is also installed or being implemented at 60 percent of European Union nuclear reactors, making Ventyx the solution of choice for upwards of 50 percent of worldwide nuclear reactors. As we strive to meet our company’s goals in 2009 and beyond, Ventyx will continue to focus on growing its dominant position in the nuclear industry.”
