Profile Technologies, Inc. Announces Successful Product Trial for Internal Inspection
– By Linton Levy –
Profile Technologies, Inc., the developer of patented and proprietary electromagnetic inspection methods for pipelines, announces a successful trial of its newest electromagnetic pipeline inspection method which inspects tubes and pipelines for internal anomalies including corrosion, pinholes, and stress corrosion cracking.
In tests conducted last week at a third-party research facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, the patent pending method successfully identified internal anomalies on several groups of heat exchanger pipe tube sections. The testing allowed Profile to confirm the viability of the latest in its line of pipeline inspection methods for use on metal tubes. While the heat exchanger tube inspection can provide a valuable market for Profile, the technology can also be applied to a wide range of small diameter tubes including boiler tubes, HVAC chiller tubes, and condensers, as well as larger pipelines carrying oil, gas, chemicals and water.
The use of electromagnetic waves (EMW) allows for long range, instantaneous inspection and monitoring of pipelines several hundred feet in length and is not limited by bends or turns in the line. In addition to identifying features that affect the integrity of these lines, the technology can also provide information about conditions or materials inside the piping such as scaling, sludge, or water buildup that might restrict flow or present future corrosion problems.
Based on the findings from last week’s trial, Profile will immediately seek industry partners for in-situ testing of the product in active pipelines and initiate marketing actions to acquire contracts and integrate this technology into the inspection industry.
Profile Technologies, Inc. is headquartered in Manhasset, NY. It is the owner and developer of proprietary, patented, and patent pending technologies that utilize electromagnetic waves to detect and characterize corrosion and other anomalies on cased, insulated and other pipelines. Its technologies provide long-range, non-invasive and non-destructive inspection.
