MarShield provides Sheet Lead with a consistent and high density manufactured from pure lead at 99.94% purity, with no refining performed in the manufacturing of the sheet lead, the product quality is among the highest available.

Sheet lead is the most malleable of common metals and can easily be shaped, formed, bent and cut. MarShield sheet lead is highly resistant to corrosion from the atmosphere, salt water, and most industrial chemicals, and ideal for making corrosion-resistant lead lining tanks, gaskets, reducing sound in rooms and replacing metal flashing in roofs. With its high density and flexibility it is superior for shielding rooms against both x-rays and gamma radiation.
Sheet lead has structural versatility and can be used in such applications as walls, doors, window frames and cabinetry, to provide the necessary shielding protection. Lead has a low stiffness and high internal damping capacity which allows for an excellent barrier and blocker for the transmission of sound as well as for isolating equipment from mechanical vibration.
“Sheet lead is one of the most versatile metals. It is used for more applications than any other metal produced. It is used for radiation shielding, sound barriers, roofing membranes, tank liners, vibration absorbers, waterproofing membranes, and more. It is never wasted as all left over material is recycled back into the furnace to be used for other applications such as ballast weights for sailboats or forklifts”. – David Holden, Sales Manager told Nuclear Street.
Sheet lead can be shaped at ambient temperatures with little effort, as well as readily manipulated with standard hand tools without the risk of fracture.
Because of its nature as a commodity, sheet lead is usually sold by the pound and is available in rolled or sheet form. Since sheet lead does not suit all applications, MarShield manufactures a variety of other radiation shielding products and assemblies such as lead lined drywall, lead bricks and borated polyethylene.
Other common uses for Sheet Lead such as MarShields’:
– Radiation Shielding in Laboratories, Hospitals, Dental Offices and Veterinary Clinics
– Construction: Roofing, Flashing and Waterproofing
– Corrosion Protection: Acid Storage and Handling
– Movable Lead Screens
– Sound Barriers and Sound Proofing
– Nuclear Energy Shielding
– Tank Lining
– Vibration Absorbers
MarShield has provided a reliable line of lead radiation protection, storage and shielding products for a variety of industries since 1979 with optimal protection in every product we manufacture.
