Westinghouse announced Thursday that it will deliver fuel for three reactors at OKG’s Oskarshamn nuclear plant in Sweden.

The company’s Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB subsidiary will fabricate the fuel at its facility in Vasteras, Sweden. According to a release, Westinghouse is a longtime supplier to OKG, having delivered nearly 8,500 fuel assemblies to the plant under past contracts. The latest deal covers fuel deliveries between 2016 and 2020.

Oskarshamn’s three units are boiling water reactors designed by Asea-Atom, which Westinghouse acquired in 2000. They each generate between 473 and 1,400 megawatts and came online between 1972 and 1985. They are among 10 reactors operating in Sweden that generate about 40 percent of the country’s power, according to the World Nuclear Association.
