On Friday, the NRC announced it received an A grade in small business contracting from the U.S. Small Business Administration for the third year in a row.

In a release, the NRC reported that it made available $254.5 million in potential contracts during the 2013 fiscal year. Of that, about a third went to small businesses. In a release, NRC chairwoman Allison Macfarlane said, “Relying on small business products and services not only helps the NRC accomplish our mission, but also supports local communities with jobs and economic development."

As with all federal contracting, the process for winning work from the NRC can be complex, but the opportunities are diverse. Recent requests for bids and proposals published on Fedbizopps.gov include services ranging from French language instruction to news and social media monitoring to advanced materials testing. The agency sets aside most contracts between $3,000 and $150,000 for small businesses and offers more information on its programs to that end here. The NRC also hosts a page on its website with more general advice for contracting with the agency.
