On Wednesday, Chicago Bridge & Iron announced an agreement to increase its collaboration with China National Nuclear Corp.

The Texas-headquartered company now has cooperative agreements in place with two of China's three state-owned nuclear power enterprises after announcing a joint venture to build reactors with China Power Investment Corp. last year. The new memorandum of understanding with CNNC covers support for operating plants and construction management for AP1000 reactors under construction and planned in China. The agreement also touches on nuclear power training programs and international market development, CB&I announced in a release.

According to the World Nuclear Association, China currently has dozens of reactors in the planning stages and 28 under construction, including four AP1000s at Sanmen and Haiyang. CB&I is currently building four of the Westinghouse reactors in the U.S. at Plant Vogtle and V.C. Summer.
