Carol Johnson, who left her position as president of Washington Closure Hanford last year, will serve as the new CEO of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.
The consortium that manages the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site announced her appointment Tuesday. She will replace outgoing CEO Dwayne Wilson, who announced his departure for an undisclosed position within Fluor Corp. earlier this month.
A graduate of Marshall University, Johnson has held positions at SRS, Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Idaho National Laboratory. In addition to leading the $2.4 billion cleanup of the Columbia River corridor at Washington's Hanford complex, she's also held the title of executive director of infrastructure for UK nuclear cleanup entity Sellafield Ltd. She has worked in various technical and management positions at nuclear cleanup sites for more than 30 years.
SRNS is a consortium of Fluor, Newport News Nuclear and Honeywell. Johnson will oversee work under an $8 billion management and operations contract awarded in 2008 and extended for three years last summer.
