NuScale Power has scheduled an event with potential suppliers for its small modular reactor.
In December, the Department of Energy selected the Fluor-backed company to receive as much as $226 million in matching federal funds to support the development of its 45-megawatt SMR. The Oregon-based reactor designer recently announced a partnership with Georgia engineering firm Enercon, and NuScale continues to conduct research using an electrically heated 1/3-scale reactor model and a full-sized control room simulator.
The SMR module will be truck- and rail-portable, allowing for off-site component fabrication. The suppliers' day Aug. 21 at the Intermountain Energy Summit in Idaho Falls, Idaho, will offer presentations from NuScale executives and one-on-one sessions for potential vendors. More information can be found here.
“Our objective for this event is two-fold; first, it provides NuScale with a means to communicate to SMR-interested nuclear industry suppliers on ways to get involved, and second, it allows NuScale an opportunity to learn more about the capabilities of potential suppliers,” NuScale supply chain Vice President Scott Bailey said in a release.
