A consortium led by Bechtel and Lockheed Martin has begun naming its leadership team as it takes over management of the Y-12 and Pantex sites.
The National Nuclear Security Administration selected Consolidated Nuclear Security to run the facilities last year. CNS restarted its transition at the sites last month after a Babcock & Wilcox-led consortium that had held the contract for 11 years exhausted its appeals of the NNSA's decision. The transition is expected to take about four months.
In a statement on the CNS website, CEO Jim Haynes named several of the executives who will oversee the sites:
- Chief Operating Officer: Jim Allen, a nuclear operations manager with 32 years at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory
- Senior Vice President – Mission Support: Darrell Graddy, a longtime Lockheed Martin executive and a vice president of its information systems and global solutions business
- Senior Vice President – Safeguards, Security and Emergency Services: Ken Freeman, general manager of the Los Alamos National Laboratory protective force since 2004
- Senior Vice President – Mission Assurance: Rick Glass, a manager at Y-12 with 31 years of experience in nuclear engineering and facility management.
