Babcock & Wilcox announced a multi-year contract with American Electric Power Monday to service steam generators at its Cook nuclear plant.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but a B&W release said the work will encompass a range of inspections and cleaning. A B&W subsidiary will conduct periodic eddy current testing, visual inspections and water lancing.

According to AEP and B&W, the latter company replaced steam generators at unit 1 during an outage in 2000. According to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, both units on Lake Michigan near Benton Harbor, Mich., are Westinghouse four-loop reactors with ice condenser containment systems. They were first licensed in 1974 and 1977.
