Entergy and a union representing about 400 employees at New York's Indian Point nuclear plant reached a tentative deal Saturday to replace a labor contract that expired midnight Friday.
A press release from the utility said the membership of the Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 will vote on the new contract in the next few weeks. Neither side shared details of the deal. A statement from the union said the agreement covers four years. Earlier actions by both parties suggested a strike and/or a lockout were possible if the impasse continued.
The union's workers help run two Westinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactors at the plant 24 miles north of New York City. Together, they generate about 2,000 megawatts.
