Adam Heflin, formerly the chief nuclear officer overseeing Missouri's Callaway plant, has taken a position as CNO and CEO of the company that operates the Wolf Creek reactor in Kansas.

In a release Friday, the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corp. said Heflin will succeed Matt Sunseri, who is retiring. The new CNO will focus on improving efficiency and reliability at Wolf Creek, according to a release from the company. A Navy veteran, Heflin joined Callaway's leadership in 2005 after working as a nuclear plant manager for Entergy.

At Ameren, the utility that owns Callaway, Fadi Diya will take Heflin's place as CNO. He also joined the Callaway plant in 2005 and has more than 29 years in the nuclear industry, according to an Ameren release. Diya's background includes certification as a senior reactor operator, and he has previously worked as a plant director and vice president of nuclear operations.

Callaway is a 1,190 megawatt Westinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactor first licensed in 1984. Wolf Creek is also a four-loop Westinghouse reactor licensed at about the same time. It is owned by Great Plains Energy and Westar Energy, with the Kansas Electric Power Cooperative holding a 6 percent stake.
