Canada's Bruce Power recently celebrated two milestones at its Bruce A nuclear plant in Ontario. First, unit 4 broke a record, with 570 continuous days in operation before its recent service outage. And second, its restart last week brought all four reactors at Bruce A online following an extensive refurbishment program.

“Through the return to service of units 1 and 2 last year, combined with investment programs in both units 3 and 4, we now have all Bruce A units generating low-cost electricity for the first time in two decades and for years to come,” Bruce Power CEO Duncan Hawthorne said in a release.

All four Candu reactors at the plant were removed from service in the years between 1995 and 1998, according to the World Nuclear Association. Units 4 and 3 were restarted in 2003 and 2004, followed by units 1 and 2 last fall.
