Fluid Components International recently introduced a new monitoring system purpose-built to meet new U.S. regulatory requirements for nuclear plant spent fuel pools.
The equipment, known as the CL86 Plus Spent Fuel Pool Multi-Monitor System, provides operators with continuous measurements of SFP water levels and temperature. Its custom-fit probe features multiple, independent sensors and alarms that integrate with control room systems, according to a release.
The CL86 meets all SFP monitoring requirements under consideration by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in response to the Fukushima Daiichi crisis in Japan, according to FCI. It also meets NRC order EA-12-051, which deals with SFP level measurement.
Based in San Marcos, Calif., FCI claims the world's largest installed base of thermal dispersion instruments. In the nuclear industry, it has been a 1E qualified supplier since 1978.
