WMG announced today at the Waste Management 2012 Conference that it will license and build a new Type B Shipping cask. With delivery anticipated for late 2013, the WMG-150B responds directly to a critical industry need. WMG began designing the new line of Type B Casks in early 2010. The cask will be compatible with containers like the 10-160, B-120, and the 142. It will have a primary lid that, when removed, offers full access to its internals. It will be equipped with a smaller secondary lid designed to accommodate processing activities. The WMG-150B will offer a lead equivalent shielding of 4.12" allowing the WMG-150B to meet most radiological transportation needs.
