Exelon, the biggest operator of power reactors in the U.S., will move its headquarters for nuclear operations from Illinois to Pennsylvania.

Crain’s Chicago Business, quoting regulatory filings, reported the shift from Warrenville, Ill., to suburban Philadelphia will affect about 100 positions, roughly a third of which are currently unfilled.

An Exelon representative told the newspaper the utility’s business services unit and nuclear operations for the Midwest will remain in the Chicago area. Before the shift, Exelon allocated 380 positions to its current nuclear headquarters in Warrenville and 220 to its office in Philadelphia.

The company will likely see a number of personnel moves as it finalizes its acquisition of Constellation Energy Group next year. Announced in April, the deal is worth $7.9 billion in equity value to Constellation shareholders. If approved by state and federal regulators, the resulting company will be called Exelon and headquartered in Chicago. Its combined nuclear fleet would have generation capacity of nearly 19,000 megawatts electric.
