Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems announced today that it has plans to open an engineering center in Charlotte and create 135 high-paying jobs over the next five years.
Mitsubishi plans to invest about $4.1 million in the project over the next several years. Mitsubishi’s investment is targeting the new nuclear build market.
The overall average pay for the new jobs will be $102,454 a year excluding benefits.
The company will receive a state Job Development Investment Grant of almost $3 million if it meets certain targets. The company is eligible for a grant equal to 60 percent of state personal income withholding taxes from the creation of new jobs for each of the nine years in which it meets performance goals.
Mitsubishi is negotiating to lease 26,000 square feet of office space in Ballantyne Corporate Park.
