Emerson Process Management has brought home yet another large
contract amid China’s boom in nuclear plant construction.
The company recently announced contracts worth $17 million
to install Ovation control technology at the Sanmen plant in Zhejiang Province
and the Haiyang plant in Shandong Province. Each site features two AP1000 reactors
designed by Westinghouse, a frequent Emerson partner.
Other Emerson Process Management contracts announced in
recent weeks include a multi-million-dollar contract to install Fisher control
valves at the same plants, in addition to position sensors and valve actuators.
The two plants are among 33 gigawatts of new nuclear
generation capacity currently under construction in China. The country’s plans
call for six new reactors to be built ever year over the next decade. According
to Zacks Investment Research, the Sanmen project is expected to begin producing
electricity in 2013 and Haiyang in 2014.
